Oversky MUL A Flight Controller

Feb 2024

Flight Controller (FC): Sold by HobbyKing at a very low price. The firmware initially loaded on the board is outdated, but I found a working NAZE 2.0 firmware that can be uploaded using Cleanflight Configurator v2.2. With this updated firmware, the FC performs well.
OSD Reprogramming: I haven’t yet figured out how to reprogram the onboard OSD; additional hardware may be required.
Power Distribution Board (PDB): Limited to handling a maximum of 10A, rendering it unsuitable for most drones.
Video Transmitter: Decent quality; compatible with 5.8GHz video receivers. It works well in my testing.
DSMX Receiver (7Ch): Not tested due to lack of a DSMX transmitter. The manufacturer made a design oversight: installing the receiver requires sharply bending the antennas, potentially exceeding their minimum bending radius and leading to premature failure. This could have been addressed with inexpensive stand-offs or longer connectors.

D-Big (Combat Robot)

Feb 2024

D-Big is a Melty Brain robot. Unlike a traditional bot, D-Big spins in place, to increase the kinetic energy.
To control the direction of the bot, we modulate the speed of the motors based on the angle of the bot. We utilize an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) along with a magnetometer to measure the current heading of the bot. The reference heading is calculated with respect to the original direction of the bot during startup.
